Daniel Daianu

Former Minister of Finance of Romania; former Member of the European Parliament; Professor of Economics, National School of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest

Daniel Daianu is a Professor of Economics at the National School for Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Bucharest, a former Minister of Finance of Romania, and, before that, chief economist of the National Bank of Romania. Between Dec. 2007-July 2009 he was a member of the European Parliament where he co-authored the report on reforming the regulation and supervision of financial markets. Daianu was also a guest Professor at leading universities, among which the University of California at Berkeley and UCLA. He is the author of numerous scientific papers and books, including "Which Way Goes capitalism?", CEU Press, 2009 and "The Macroeconomics of EU integration.The case of Romania", Bucharest, Rosetti, 2008. He contributes regularly to European Voice. He is an associate member of the Romanian Academy, a member of Aspen Romania and Chairman of the Romanian Economic Society and the Harvard Club of Romania.
